Dr. Natasha Cairns
Practice Owner/DVM
Joined the team in 2017
Atlantic Veterinary College Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
Natasha is also a wife and mother of two young boys and a fur baby mom of four kitties; Alice, Arthur, Gilburt, Stuart and her newest addition is Lucy. Lucy is a retriever cross puppy who sometimes keeps her awake at night but is growing and learning. It is always a challenge to maintain a healthy work/life balance.
Dr. Ashley Weir
DVM
Joined our team in May of 2021
Atlantic Veterinary College Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Weir grew up in Riverview New Brunswick on a hobby farm, always dreaming of becoming a veterinarian. Dr. Weir and her husband Jacob have 4 dogs, 3 cats and 2 leopard geckos .Dr. Weir enjoys reading, birding, boardgames and bikejoring during her free time.
Dr. Heather Collins-Patterson
DVM
Joined our team in 2022
Atlantic Veterinary College Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
Heather has worked for us as a locum veterinarian for the past 4 years but in September 2022 has joined our team as a full time doctor.
Heather brings with her years of experience and knowledge, compassion and a sense of humor. We are happy she has joined our family!

Joined our team in 2020
Bonnie is friendly and efficient and takes great care of our clients.
She has a background in horticulture and loves to be outdoors enjoying nature with her dog Jemma.
Growing up on a farm she has always loved animals and has a passion for their care.
Cheyenne Hanrahan
Receptionist
Joined our team in July 2023.
Cheyenne is originally from Cape Breton but now lives in Greenwood with her husband, son and daughter. She enjoys travelling home to Cape Breton when she can and spending time with her children and her dogs, Luke and Nellie.
Megan Lawrence
Receptionist
Megan joined our team June 102024 and has learned our computer system quickly. Megan lives nearby with her husband and their cat, Simba.
Megan enjoys going the beach and long drives on her days off.
Melanie Haverstock
Office Manager
Joined our team in April 2, 2002
Managing the clinic since she started. Melanie looks after most of the ordering, scheduling, training and accounts receivable and helps out wherever needed.
Melanie enjoys hiking, gardening and photography in her spare time.
Josie Chaplain
Receptionist
Josie joined our team November 2024.
Josie has a background in English and philosophy and a lifelong love for animals, reflected in her home where she had 5 cats and 2 dogs.
When she’s not at the clinic, she enjoys traveling, hiking, writing, reading, and attending theatrical performances.
Heather Tracey
Custodian
Joined our team in April 2003.
Heather has 3 cats. She is a member of the Coldbrook & District Lions Club.
She enjoys the beach, traveling and road trips.

Elissa Quimby
Lead RVT/Animal Nutritionist
Joined our team in 2007
NSAC Graduate Registered Veterinary Technician.
Elissa looks after ordering from our compounding pharmacy and is our resident pet nutrition consultant. Elissa also organizes candidates who are pre vet or pre RVT students who do their work placements with us.
She enjoys volunteering with Girl Guides of Canada and Greyhounds, Galago's and Podencos Nova Scotia. She has Pepa the Podenco and 2 cats.
Julia Hoogerwerf
RVT
Julia is a new Registered Veterinary Technician and graduate of
Dalhousie AC.
Julia joined our team September 2024.
She has two dogs Jake and Maggy. Julia enjoys travelling the world, snowboarding, baking and
going to the beach.
Janice Schofield
RVT
Joined our team in 2008
NSAC Graduate Registered Veterinary Technician
Janice is one of the RVT's we have and assists with patient care and looks after ordering our hospital supplies.
Kayla Lewis
Vet Assistant
Joined our team in May 2024. Graduate of the Veterinary Assistant Program in 2015 and fell in love with veterinary medicine in the hospital setting. She has a special interest in exotics! Kayla has two children, and lives with her heart cat “Grayson”! Kayla recently adopted a ball python snake named Marge.
Dae Cunningham
RVT
Dae joined our team in August 2024. Dae graduated from Dal AC RVT program in 2020.
Dae has a cat named Suicune.
Dae enjoys painting and doing jigsaw puzzles in their free time.
Kaylee Parsons
Vet Assistant
Joined our team in August 2023.
Studied and graduated Veterinary Assisting online through Ashworth College in 2017.
Has always been involved with animals, large and small!
-Is a fur mama to two dogs, Doc and Delta, and 3 cats Chester, Cow and Ducky.
In her spare time she enjoys reading, hiking, creating art, music, going to the gym and spending time with her animals.
